UPVC Replacement Door Handles
Over time, the handles on your doors will wear out and require replacement. When replacing them, it is essential that the new handles match the exact dimensions of the old handle.
The three measurements to be inspected are the top screw position as well as the key hole and lever sizes. Use the size guide to aid you.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever handle or lever is a modern-day door handle that is designed to fit new or replacement doors. This type of handle is available in many designs and finishes. This handle is offered by several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The uPVC/Composite handles are made from durable materials, and are ideal for doors with multiple points that require a robust design. The handles are inline and work from the same spindle and screw fixings, so they are easily installed on new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.
The sprung lever design allows the handle to be positioned and angled to provide a comfortable grip and is suitable for all users. The handle has been endurance-tested to 200 000 cycles. This helps ensure that the finish is of high quality and performance is maintained over time. The sprung lever is also adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is useful for narrower doors where the cylinder is further away from the door. window handles shortened lever is also a good choice for doors where the latch can be operated by a thumb turn located on the inside.
Lever Pad
The lever pad upvc handle is different from the lever handles that are found on most doors. These handles are operated by one spindle, or two spindles inline or offset. They are commonly utilized on UPVC doors with double glazing. They come in a variety of finishes and variations.
The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200,000 cycles and are available in several finishes including White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with the best performance and long-lasting durability for its intended purpose.
All of the UPVC handle lever pad styles come with the spindle and screws, allowing them to be put on a new or existing uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixing centres permit a bigger handle, which is often a benefit when replacing a damaged or worn multi point door lock mechanism. The handle levers are sprung, solving the problem of handles that slide out of their horizontal position when they are not in use.
When selecting the replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is important to match the PZ dimensions of the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement is also called 'handle centres' or cylinder centres'. It is important to match the correct handles.
Once you have the proper PZ size you will then have to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are of a appropriate shape to accommodate the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you need for your doors. These are typically round or square with an internal lever and an external push pad.
The majority of the UPVC Lever Pads that we offer are spring-loaded. This means that they return to a horizontal state when not being used instead of hanging, and possibly sticking in the frame. This prevents draughts from entering the building. It is also the case that the majority of the UPVC handle lever pad style handles are handed which allows you to place them on either side of the door.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are typically found on uPVC doors, but they can also be used on other types of door. They operate with a key to unlock a cylinder case which is then revealed with pins that can be aligned with the pins inside the lock body, allowing them to turn a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro Cylinders are available with up to six pins. Doors that are internal and external require different levels of security.
The choice of cylinder you choose is vital. It is based on the amount of use your doors and handles receive. For instance, exterior doors should be fitted with a more secure cylinder while doors inside can be secured with the standard cylinder. Certain cylinders come with extra features that can increase security, such as anti-drill or anti-bump properties.
To make sure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it should be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to the end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. If you cannot measure with the lock in position, you can remove it. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon could be susceptible to attacks like lock snapping, so it is crucial to make sure it's not too long.
The design of the latest cylinders comes with anti-drilling as well as bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease attack chances by forcing the cylinders to turn in a new direction. This will help to deflect the attack and ensure your doors are secure.
Some cylinders are designed to resist snapping. This is an increasingly common method of attack on cylinders, where the break line in the lock is attacked by a tool that is specially designed to break off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to open. This is a faster and simpler method to gain access than through a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which could make it difficult to prove insurance claims.
Spring Cassette
The spring cassette is located in the base of the door handle backplate providing a sprung solution to return the multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after using. There was a time when these types of handle did not have a spring integrated into them, and as a result, they tend to droop or drop once the locking mechanism is removed. The addition of this simple element is among the best ways to correct this, and is an effective way to keep your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in the open or closed position, since they are not always easy to close manually.
These spring cassettes are specifically made for use with multipoint locks sprung but they won't work with non-sprung multipoint handles. You must have a custom hole cut into your backplate to allow these to fit (please see image for technical diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to damaged or missing cassettes in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are sold as a single unit. They come with a square cut out that can accommodate an 8mm shaft.
These spring cassettes are a fantastic value for money solution to the issue of handles on your doors sliding. They are simple to install and will extend the life of your uPVC door.
